Online Appointment Bookings
If you are booking an appointment via the Castle Gardens Medical Centre Patient online access website please make sure that you book into the site where you are registered.
If you are booking an appointment online for a Blood test, a Doctor or Nurse must of requested that you need to have a blood test taken. They will then arrange a blood test form for you and it will be here on the computer ready for when you come to the appointment. If you book an appointment and it has not been requested by a Clinician and no form has been organised you will not be able to have the test done and you will be required to re book at another time.
Castle Gardens Medical Centre is currently accepting new patients. Please contact the surgery to ensure that you live within our catchment area before completing the registration forms.

Please complete the relevant forms and bring these to the surgery with proof of identification and address. It takes approximately one week to fully register with the surgery and during this time we ask you to obtain sufficient medication from your current GP Surgery during this transition period.

When We Are Closed
From 18.30 each weekday evening until 20.00 and at weekends and Bank Holidays, emergency medical cover is provided by the Extended Access Service This is based at either the Rowhedge Surgery or the Healthcare Centre at The University Of Essex. Please contact your own surgery to book these appointments. Please be advised that the location of this service differs over the Christmas period.
Christmas Day - the clinic will be held at Rowhedge Surgery
Boxing Day - the clinic will be held at Rowhedge Surgery
New Years Day - the clinic will be held at Rowhedge Surgery.
For patients with minor illness or injury you can also attend The Urgent Treatment Centre located at The Colchester General Hospital. This is open from 07:00 to 22:00 every day including bank holidays, no appointments are necessary.
The UTC is able to offer the following services:
- Minor illness
- Minor throat/chest infections
- Minor stomach complaints
- Urine infections
- Earache and ear infection - Please note that the Centre does not offer ear irrigation (removal of wax
- Skin complaints, including rashes, minor allergic reactions and insect bites/stings
- Minor Injury
- Minor wounds, bruising, swelling - please note that the Centre does not offer wound suturing
- Minor head injury with no loss of consciousness or vomitting
- Muscle, bone and joint injuries e.g. sprains, strains and soft tissue injury -
- Dental advice - Please note that the Centre gives advice only and suggested pain relief
- Eye problems e.g. infection, removal of foreign objects
- Emergency Contraception and Advice
- Smoking Cessation
These are just examples of the type of minor injuries and illnesses that can be assisted with at the UTC.
Please only attend the Accident and Emergency department if your problem requires urgent medical attention. Inappropriate attendance delays treatment for others who may need urgent assistance.

ONLINE PATIENT ACCESS
The Practice is pleased to provide patients with access to its Clinical System via a Secure Web Interface.
You can book and cancel your appointments, request repeat medication and view your medical records online. To do this you need to register with the practice and obtain a password to enable you to access this service. Once your registration account is created you will need to come into the surgery with your passport or driving licence so that your account can be activated you will be able to use the system to book and cancel appointments, request repeat medication and view your medical records as required.
